Las Vegas is thought of as a city for tourists, and it is, but it is also home for around 583,000 locals. Located in the Nevada desert, Las Vegas is a city with a lot to offer its locals and visitors including great shopping, casinos, theaters and adventures out into the stunning surrounding wilderness. It is a city of endless possiblities were anything is possible! For some good tips and ideas for your visit to Las Vegas we have talked to Diana Edelman who has so kindly shared her knowledge so you can visit Las Vegas just “Like a Local”
What are your top 5 places to go in your city?
Downtown – the 18b Arts District and Fremont East. Both areas attract more than tourists and offer art, culture and a hip and vibrant scene.
The Strip – between New York-New York Casino and Encore
Red Rock Canyon
The Cosmopolitan Resort – It offers varied dining, from a secret pizza shop to upscale dining with stunning views of The Strip; hip drinking venues like the multi-floored Chandelier Bar with different cocktail menus at each level – all inside one of the world’s largest chandeliers; a dayclub/nightclub – Marquee; shopping; art and plenty of areas to just chill out.
Lake Mead for water sports and boating
What are the Top 3 places that visitors must go to feel like a local?
Fremont East — hip and intimate bars and neighborhood dining
Arts District — especially for First Friday, the monthly event on the first Friday, where galleries hold open houses, musicians perform on the street and food trucks serve out food.
Mt. Charleston — it’s a 45 minute drive to the highest peak in Southern Nevada, but it’s worth it. On the mountain, there are lodges, hiking, skiing, biking, horse rides and more.
On a summer’s day, where is a popular place for locals to go?
The pool! Some of the resorts are open to the locals, so if they don’t have a pool in their neighborhood, that’s where they go.
Where is a cozy place for a winter’s day?
Mt. Charleston Resort or Mt. Charleston Lodge. Both offer mountain escapes with fire places and snow-capped mountain views
Which district is the best for shoppers?
Las Vegas Blvd. Fashion Show Mall on The Strip is great. Also the Forum shops in Caesars Palace, Town Square and the outlets.
